What do you do with all those handmade greeting cards your friends send you? We all
put hard work, time and creativity into making special cards for our friends
but never know where they go when your birthday is over, after the holidays. I decided to do something about preserving and showcasing such greeting cards. The idea to create this delightful Altered Greeting Card Book came to me as I was putting away my Christmas stuff and couldn't bear to move the cards to "the box", possibly never to be seen again. I wanted them displayed and admired. Purchase or make a spiral/coil bound 7x10 book, mine is made of 10 pieces of cardstock. Collage the pages with scraps of paper or fabric. Shape some into the form of a house; make pockets to house cards. I tried to collage the pages in the style of the person that made me the card, when possible. The cover is made of antique stencils and transparency, embellished with twigs, fibre and beads. This project was very inspirational for me. Once I started, I couldn't quit. I'd be up til all hours of the morning making "one more page. I hope you have as much fun as I did. Norma Kooi 02 |
