When I began my experimenting in the altered arts I was immediately drawn to art
dolls. Somehow to me they take on their own personality and almost become
my little make believe friends. I tend to get attach to them rather quickly.
I create art to pass on, and when someone purchases one of these dolls,
I feel almost like I run a little adoption agency. I just get so thrilled
when the dolls are received with love, that it keeps me creating new ones. I use vintage doll heads and repaint them and use my special glaze that gives them a porcelain feel. I love to collect found objects, especially antique hardware. The doll bodies are anything from old bobbins, spindles, sprinkler heads, salt and pepper shakers, whatever works. I gather laces and flowers of all kinds, vintage jewels, keys, old watch faces, etc. to embellish them. After they are created they speak to me their story, therefore a new little doll finds a new journey, bringing smile and joy to their receivers with a message all their own. I have kept a few for myself because they won't let go, not yet anyway. JoAnnA Pierotti 04 07 Mosshill Studios |
